Looking Toward Mount Anne over Lake Peddar

The Sentinels 1

A study of The Sentinels Range in southern-west Tasmania taken in the buildup to an icy blast across the Southern Ocean, all the way from Antarctica.
Considered to be the marker for entering the Western Wilderness, the imposing mountain range looms over the highway impressing just how epic the surrounding geology is.
From a distance it is impressive enough with its many layered peaks that grip the clouds. Going in for a closer look gives up details such as folded greys and blacks of ancient lava and the pinks and purples of granite. And then the trees that appear as pins at the base lend scale to the truly massive upsweep from the glacial plain to the very peaks rising 800m straight up from the highway.
